Geo Valley is a European investment programme for companies inside Geomatics Business Park, aiming to further advance the employment of space travelborne satellite data in the development of useful environmental information.

Under the name of Geo Valley, renowned geomatics companies and knowledge institutions (including several outside GBP) are working together to develop new innovations and applicability in the realm of geomatics.

This way, the investment plan provides numerous product and service innovations in the field of water management, air quality and spatial quality. In addition, Geo Valley aims to improve the availability and accessibility of geo-information, by developing internet-based facilities.

Partners in Geo Valley

Geo Valley is executed by a consortium of small and mid-sized businesses established at GBP as well as knowledge institutions from various provinces in Landsdeel West. These are: Alkyon/Arcadis, Argeops, BMT ARGOSS, Ecoflight, Infram, Imares, ITC, NLR, Sovon, Stichting Foundation GBP, TNO, TU Delft and the University of Amsterdam.

Regional stakeholders are united in the ‘Management Group Geomatics Flevoland’. This group tends to a smooth transition to the international acquisition of economic activity by the OMFL and the ambitions regarding education in Flevoland, among other things.

Moreover, Geo Valley works in accordance with national policy of the following governmental ministries: Ministry of Economic Affairs, Ministry of Housing, Spatial Planning and the Environment, Ministry of Agriculture, Nature Management and Food Quality and the Ministry of Waterways and Public Works.

The Geo Valley investment programme runs from 2009 through 2012. The programme was initiated by the GBP Foundation: a public private collaboration in which the stakeholders are united. The GBP Foundation coordinates the programme and, in the execution thereof, capitalizes on the results of the 1st developmental phase of GBP: The Synergy plan. This phase ran between 2002 and 2008 and has been completed successfully.
